   On April 13-15, 2025, the final meeting of WP 2 of the EU-CONEXUS ENABLES project and a conference dedicated to Digital Twins technologies took place. Both events were organized by the Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest (Bucharest, Romania). On behalf of the I. I. Mechnikov ONU, Associate Professor of the Department of Botany, Plant Physiology and Horticulture, Yulia Nazarchuk, participated in the events.
   The final meeting of WP 2 discussed the issues of determining priority research topics for doctoral and postdoctoral students, the processes of selecting topics and candidates for doctoral and postdoctoral students, and the involvement of stakeholders.

   On April 30th, during the career guidance meeting at the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Biotechnology of the Odesa I. Mechnikov National University, students of the Odesa Lyceum learned about the University's participation in the EU-CONEXUS Enables international research project funded by the EU Horizon program.
   Head of the Department Oksana Zinchenko, who is the project contact person, presented the key ideas and working points of this international initiative to the guests.

    On April 19, during Mechnikov Open Day, Head of the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Biotechnology Oksana Zinchenko presented EU-CONEXUS Enables among other international projects of ONU for potential applicants of the University and their parents. She explained the concept of Digital Twins approach and the objectives of the project.

   On April 8-9, 2025, within the framework of the EU-Conexus Enables project, the training "Empowering Research Managers and Administrators" was held, organized by the South-Eastern University of Technology (Waterford, Ireland). On behalf of the I. I. Mechnikov ONU, the training was attended by Natalia Vasilyeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Biotechnology, and Yulia Nazarchuk, Associate Professor of the Department of Botany, Plant Physiology and Horticulture. The event was full of reports, round tables and various activities aimed at understanding the Research Support Structure. The issues of research culture and HR for research, various issues of research management and funding, project budget preparation, grant reviews, reporting issues, as well as communication, socialization and self-development features were considered.

On the 7th of January a meeting of ONU EU-CONEXUS ENABLES team, representatives of Odesa Regional Military Administration and NGOs was held. Participants discussed challenges in digital education of population in the region and possible use of project outcomes to overcome existing difficulties.

On the 3rd of February 2025 researchers involved in EU-CONEXUS ENABLES activities (Oksana Zinchenko, Nataliia Vasylieva and Mykola Chaban) met the deputy director of the Department of digital development, information politics and tourism of Odesa Regional Military Administration. The needs and demands of the region that can be potentially met using Digital Twin tools produced within the project were discussed.

On the 24th of January 2025 a meeting with the Secretary of Odesa City Council Ihor Koval was held at ONU. Oksana Zinchenko, contact person of EU-CONEXUS at ONU, and Volodymyr Ivanitsya, Vice-Rector for Science presented the project EU-CONEXUS ENABLES and discussed possible collaboration between  ONU and Odesa City Council in the frames of the project.

Research Management Administrators Mobility and Network Programme

  The Research Management Administrators (RMA) Mobility and Network Programme, part of the EU-CONEXUS Enables project, is a strategic initiative aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among Research Management Administrators across EU-CONEXUS. This programme enhances the professional development of RMAs, especially those from widening countries, by offering mobility, networking, and training opportunities. It focuses on building a robust Community of Practice (CoP) that promotes the exchange of best practices, skills, and knowledge in research management and administration.

The first event, workshop #1

  An Introduction to Mentoring for Mentees, will take place online, featuring Eimear Fitzpatrick, HR Business Partner for Research at Sout East technological University (Ireland), as the guest speaker. Eimear Fitzpatrick will guide attendees through essential mentoring skills, providing insights into how mentees can build effective mentoring relationships, and explore practical tools to maximize the benefits of mentoring.

This two-hour workshop marks the start of a series of engaging, career-enhancing opportunities, open to early-stage researchers across the consortium!
